The anticipation is always rewarded handsomely...these are the pieces from the last post with their shiny new winter coats!

Works in Utero!

Steadily, these most recent commissions come along, ready to bisque and then off into the world (my how they grow up so fast, it seems just yesterday they were sticky amorphous blobs on the wheel...sob)

The mugs are a custom creation for the lovely new Cradle space at Thorne's and two wedding bowls for some very lucky couples.

The hen and rooster motif on Abby & Mike's bowl stems from a story of the wedding ring having been hidden in the couple's chicken coop, it's a nice opportunity to do something more whimsical.

And the bowl for Karen & Lucian is yet more proof that if i just yield to the forms of the given names, the compositions emerge all on their own. These two names were done justice by a tall and narrow setting and repeated a second time to fill the space and create a pleasant abstracting texture.

Thanks everyone for the unique challenges, I can't wait to see them in full color!

A La Carte Ceramics!

My most recent wedding commissions, in a rich blue with some iridescence and a nice break around the edges, phew! it's a whole different kind of wait for the kiln when the work is this labor-intensive. Suddenly it actually does seem fragile, and valuable...cooked mud with an attentive mark becomes something more...

PTSD: Post-Twist-Stress Delight!

Ahh the sublime joy and exhaustion of another Twist Fair...at least it seemed real...{could i have been dreaming? did i sleep through the whole thing?wouldn't have been the first time}

Well as far as i remember, it was quite the scene, always inspiring, always rewarding, sometimes bum-numbing on that long Saturday...

Cheers to all those who stopped by to egg me on and make Northampton feel so much like home already...It's some flattery to have so much of my pottery taken home by friends and family {especially because i would've been gifting to you all anyway at some point}, and to be remembered by ladies and gentlemen who had bought some of my wares in the fall, it keeps me at it!

I hope to begin delving into the world of mosaics very soon: furniture, mirrors, wall hangings, whatsits and thingamabobs...{suddenly i don't despise broken glass on the street so much} So if anyone wants to direct me towards any large stockpiles of tile and/or glass, just give me a hoot!

In like a Lion...Still like a Lion...

Madness ensues as the Twist fair approaches! And why not, let's go ahead and start up this here blog while we're at it.
Keep in mind, i must disclose as i do on my design blog, my major personality flaw:
I live in real time, outside the webbernet, and as a consequence, do not foresee very much action coming to this blogosphere.
for me, this is the FREE website device, the xerox on the telephone pole, the soap on the rear car window, to let it be known that i do in fact exist, and yes, i want to make money as an artist!
So whether it be out of pity, out of obligation by way of blood-relations, out of passion for folk crafts and handmade gifts, or if nothing else, out of sheer consumerist impulse:

Please take a look at my portfolio and let me know if you're interested in some pottery

Consider arranging for a custom-engraved gift for a wedding, birthday, anniversary or as a gag, who knows?

Thanks for taking the time, may this blog find you well!
